2013 – This is our year!

2013 is the year of the Snake according to the Chinese calendar, but for us it’s the year of the RTW trip. We will leave mid-year on a 15 month tour of the world.

Anticipation… is it time to leave yet?

The first half of the new year for us will be like watching the clock on a bad day of work. It is already difficult to focus on anything else but our travel plans, as the date gets closer I am sure it will only get worse. Do you remember the feeling as a senior in high school? Well its kinda like that.

13 countries in 2013

If all goes to plan we will have been through 13 countries within the year!

  • Belize
  • Honduras
  • Guatemala
  • Costa Rica
  • Panama
  • Colombia
  • Ecuador
  • Peru
  • Fiji
  • New Zealand
  • Australia
  • Thailand (I can’t wait to write my 2014 post next year from the beaches in Southern Thailand!!! That will be a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!)
Hopefully this will be the view as I type next years new years posts!!

Travel Resolutions

Since this year is all about travel for us we decided to skip the normal resolutions and focus on improving how we travel.

  • Learn Spanish (This week we hope to book a week long trip to Mexico to brush up on our Espanol!)
  • Learn to be less planned out as we travel and go with the flow
  • Learn to live with less

What are your travel resolutions?

And where do you plan to be in 2013? There is still plenty of time to book a trip to meet us on the road!

  1. Your plans look amazing.
I have been living abroad in Canada for the last two years. I’m due to leave in a few weeks, through Europe and hoping to stick around there for a while, eventually landing in Southeast Asia later in the year and from there Australia (home). Who knows how long I will stay there though until I move on again.
    Happy tavels to you boths.

  2. Looks like you’ve got a nice, long trip planned out. Since I just returned to the US from a long trip in Asia, I’m jealous!! Stuck slaving for money again, but it’s only a matter of time before I’m on the road again.

I’m not too familiar with Central America except for Costa Rica which is a really easy, nice place to travel. I’m sure you’ll have some amazing experiences in the Andean countries too.

I will probably be in New Zealand by mid-year, so it would be cool to meet up down there towards the end of the year. You’ll have to tell me how your time in Fiji was because I’d love to visit sometime. Happy travel planning :)

    • Dave – Just checked out your coming home post, sounds rough after being gone for so long. Not looking forward to ever writing that post! Hope your next travels come soon.

I am already looking forward to Fiji! It sounds super good today with it being about 15F here at home.

It would be great to meet up in NZ if we are there at the same time!
