Our top 14 travel blogs to follow in 2014

Ever wonder what travel blogs we follow?

At the close of every year most people reflect back on the passing year, but we thought it would be fun to look forward to the new year! These are the blogs we are loving and reading right now. They are all great blogs and have their own certain something that keeps us reading them.

Over the past year, we have gotten closer with online-closer that is, to several other travel bloggers.  We actually meet a handful of them at TBEX in Toronto this past June.  They are great to ask travel questions to, bounce ideas off, and just shoot the shit really.  They are all great, and each have their own style  Make sure to check out our top 14 bloggers in 2014 (in no particular order). Click on the blog name (in green) to go to their site and see why we read them!

1. Ryan @ Just Chuckin It

ryan1

We met Ryan at TBEX and instantly clicked.  I mean look at him, his gnarly! Ryan see’s things from a different perspective and hides nothing from his past.

2. Dan & Alissa @ This World Rocks

dan

Dan & Alissa are fellow Wisconsinites! We have been following around their trip ever since they left February 2013.  They are currently in India gearing up for Africa!

3. Giselle & Cody @ Mindful Wanderlust

Over the past year I have really been following these 2 around Thailand.  They are often found in Thailand working at the Elephant Nature Park. Truly good people helping out around the world.  Also recently turned vegans….makes me consider it sometimes!

4. Caroline & Josh @ Traveling 9-5 9to5

We first met these two online, and then in person at TBEX.  They were our partners in crime.  We have so much in common, and we now chat weekly on Facebook.  They wrapped up their RTW in 2013. Just announced, they will be a traveling family of 3 soon! So excited for these 2.

5. Talon & Tigger @1dad1kid

Ever wonder what it would be to travel around the world with a child? Talon is doing it, and doing a GREAT job! These two have a great story, and I love reading what they are up to. Also watching Tiger grow up is amazing.  Talon is another one of my good Facebook friends, he helped me out in Honduras/Peru and now parts of Asia!

7. Matt @Expertvagabond

skydive-680x680

Matt has been one of our favorites ever since we got the idea to go on our RTW trip, also making our 2013 favorites list!  Last year he was primarily in Asia, with a wicked hitchhiking road trip across the states, and currently traveling Central America.

8. Wes @Johnnyvagabond

wes-tikal-250

Looking for hilarious storyteller! Look no further, Wes is here. Enough said.

9.Lina & Dave@Divergent Travelers

divvert

Launching February 2014, watch out for their upcoming RTW trip.  Fellow cheeseheads too! For those not from USA, they are also from Wisconsin and support the Green Bay Packers! This was us last year so it will be fun to watch these guys take off soon!

10. Jamie @ Breakaway Backpacker

Brussels: Day 5

Jamie wrapped up his 2+year around the world trip in spring of 2013 and is already planning his next breakaway! Make sure to catch up on his past RTW trip and watch out for his upcoming one! You might remember from his toe touches which made Good Morning America, the famous shots of gymnastic toe touches in front of many of the world’s most iconic places.  The stories are what keep us coming back they are one of a kind, and he gets himself in some interesting situations.

11.Jeremy & Angie @LivingthedreamRTW

jeremyangie

These 2 left just 3 weeks before we did on their RTW trip.  They did Europe this past summer and are finishing up in Central America summer 2014.  Which if you didn’t know, is just exactly opposite of us.  We also met at TBEX and keep in touch weekly.  We plan on swapping routes with each other!

12.Gerard & Kieu @GQ trippin

gq

After 12 months of traveling the world, these two are currently engaged and settling back into the corporate life.  We like to refer back to their travels for ideas.  Also hope to see these to back on the road again soon.

13.Tawny & Chris @Captain &Clark

captainclark

Freshly married and still traveling! Another TBEX attendee, and fun couple! We love to watch Captains travel videos too!

14. Samuel @Nomadic Samuel samuel

Nomadic Samuel has been around the travel blog scene for a long time, and for good reason! We love his travel guides and videos too.

Your list is indeed interesting. I am so excited to see that you visited TBEX. I enrolled myself in the one that happened in Ireland, but had to cancel it due to cash crunch. I am waiting for the next one to be announced.

I’m in the planning stages of starting my own. Do you use mailchimp or aweber, or which do you recommend? I have read not that mailchimp doesn’t allow affiliate links. Could that be problematic? Thx!

We use mail-chimp, but we don’t send out that many newsletters. I have never looked into placing affiliate links in so I cannot answer your question.
