The most striking feature of the Stanley Safari Lodge is without a doubt the open front chalets. Situated on a hill overlooking the river the thatched roof chalets are open in the front with stunning views of the spray of the falls. In the center of the room is a plush bed that stares out onto the scenery.

The entire room is one with nature, even the stone soaking tub. From anywhere in the room you feel connected with your surrounds and you truly know you are in Africa.

This part of the world is full of stunning landscapes and home to one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, Victoria Falls. The days around the falls are busy and full of exciting activities like flying a helicopter over Victoria Falls. Even with all the things to do in Victoria Falls, the rooms at the Stanley Safari Lodge have a way of pulling you in.

When you are at the lodge the staff is there waiting to take care of you. All guests are assigned a personal member of the staff to take care of all your meals and anything else you might need. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner times are planned around your schedule.

The meals can be had anywhere on the property you choose. The food is both local favorites and international specialties prepared just for you. We spent Adam’s Birthday at the lodge this year and the staff even baked him a cake to celebrate. Some of the most memorable meals we had in Africa came dining poolside at the Stanley Safari Lodge.

The pool was also perfectly placed overlooking the mighty Zambezi and the falls. In addition to the views of the Victoria Falls, we were treated to nightly breath-taking sunsets. In the early evening the sun melts into intense pinks, oranges, and then finally fades into red and deep purples.

Sunsets are an event worth planning into your busy days in Livingstone. Grab a drink and find a seat for the nightly show, and just enjoy.

As the twilight fades into night, the stars over the Zambezi being to appear. They start one by one until the sky is filled with millions of little twinkling lights. As great as the days are in Livingstone, the nights at the Stanley Safari Lodge a pretty special too.

We spent many hours on the deck of our chalet staring up at the stars. Inside the bed, you are still connected to nature with the open chalet. In the distance, you can hear the lion’s low rumbling roar as you drift off to sleep.
