I was long overdue for a getaway from Adam, I love him dearly but we have been together nonstop since we started our RTW trip in June 2013. We haven’t been apart for more than 2 days in the last 950 days, not that I’m counting. What better getaway than a Mall of America girls weekend! So that’s what I did, I packed a mostly empty bag and headed to the airport. Next stop Minneapolis!
Why A Mall of America Girls Weekend?
Shopping
There are over 520 stores in the Mall of America, something for everyone’s budget and style. To make sure I didn’t overspend on my girl’s weekend to the Mall of America I used a mall gift card, which worked at all the stores. This way when I hit my spending limit I was done shopping. I made sure to even save enough money on my gift card to get Adam a few gifts at Best Buy on my Mall of America girls getaway trip.
The Spa
Every girl’s weekend needs a little spa time to pamper yourself. On my Mall of America girls weekend, I had a relaxing morning at the Solimar Spa. The spa was located right inside my hotel the Radisson Blu which is conveniently attached to the Mall of America. There is no better way to start the morning than with a relaxing massage and facial.
Restaurants
Bring your appetite on a Mall of America girls weekend. The food options are endless, with over 50 restaurants to choose from in the Mall of America. When I think mall food I think of boring food court stuff. However, that’s not the case at the Mall of America. We ate at all of our meals at nice restaurants in the Mall. My favorite dinner spot was Twin City Grill, where my fillet mignon was cooked to perfection and served with the creamiest mashed potatoes I have ever had. The desserts looked amazing here as well but I was too full to even think about dessert.
For lunch Burger Burger had amazing burgers and fries, I’m a burger girl and what really stood out to me about the burgers was the size. They were just the right size. Not too small, but not too big that it falls all apart before I can even attempt to get it in my mouth. The bun, the cheese, the beef, everything about the burger was amazing. Don’t forget the hand-cut fries with Sriracha ranch dipping sauce.
Drinks
It wouldn’t be a girl’s weekend if there wasn’t a little boozy action going on. Several of the restaurants in the Mall of America stay open much later than the stores, so we were able to get our drink on. The Radisson Blu had a really good cocktail bar too, FireLake Grill House & Cocktail Bar. It was a great place to have a nightcap before heading up to bed to rest up for another day of shopping on our Mall of America girls weekend.
Desserts
Save room for dessert – anything chocolate please! The Mall of America has tons of shops selling gelato, frozen yogurt, cupcakes, and almost any dessert possible. I opted to have the hot fudge brownie sundae shake at Burger Burger with chunks of brownies mixed in. Burger Burger even had alcoholic ice cream shakes which I didn’t’ realize until after I ordered, otherwise I totally would have taken a boozy shake.
Cedar & Stone Urban Table had a dark chocolate creme brûlée, which I had to try as creme brûlée is my go-to dessert after a nice dinner. It tasted even better than it looks.
You can’t bring me to a restaurant that has a gelato trio on the menu and not expect me to order it. At Zio Italian, they had a gelato trio with vanilla, salted caramel, and chocolate. I probably should have shared, but I don’t share gelato very well… Some of the other girls on our Mall of America girls getaway shared this massive piece of Tiramisu cake, I think they got served 1/2 the cake!
Entertainment
Who says you have to be a kid to ride roller coasters? I got my adrenaline rush at Nickelodeon Universe, just what I needed to fuel another Mall of America girls weekend day. My favorite ride was Sponge Bob Square Pants Rock Bottom Plunge, lots of screams!
Radisson Blu Mall of America Hotel
There are several hotels nearby the Mall of America but the Radisson Blu is not only convenient as it is attached to the mall, but the rooms were spacious and super comfy. The fitness center is one of the largest I have ever seen in a hotel, with high-end machines. The hotel has free airport shuttles every 30 minutes as well, so it was super easy for us girls who flew in for our Mall of America girls getaway.
When was your last girls’ weekend? Where did you and your girlfriends go? Now it’s time to plan a Mall of America girls weekend!
