Paddling the bay
What better way to start the day than some sea kayaking in a national park? From the town of Marahau we paddled about 12 km up the coast and into the park with Able Tasman Kayaks.
Some of us were better kayakers than others, no names but I didn’t see someone’s paddle in the water very often.
From our little yellow vessels we got some great coastal views as well as some penguin and seals to sail by.
After a good couple of hours of upper body exercise our guides put together a beach-side spread that filled us up to make the hike back to the base.
Great Walk: Able Tasman Coastal Track
Since first planning our time in New Zealand I have wanted wanted to get my feet on a few of the great walks. The kayak and walk combo let us do a bit of both, and see this beautiful coast from both sides.
We celebrated the American Holiday by having our fanciest campervan meal. No, we did not roast a turkey in the oven all day, actually we had trouble finding a turkey so we opted for a New Zealand take on it: Lamb Chops!
It’s going to be strange missing the holidays at home, but we will make the most of them and make sure they are still special to us.
