Checking Into The W Bangkok Hotel

Checking Into The W Bangkok Hotel

If there is one city in the world we have visited the most, it would be Bangkok. We typically spend 3 days in Bangkok in the Sukhumvit area of town. But on our last visit to Bangkok, we checked into the W Bangkok located in the Silom part of Bangkok. Silom is actually where some of our favorite Bangkok restaurants are, so we were excited to check out the W Bangkok hotel.

We have stayed at W hotels before, so we knew we would be pampered at the W Bangkok. As a repeat W hotel customer, we were looking forward to the Bliss products and the massive pillowtop bed after a long travel day from the Maldives!

The W Bangkok hotel has a total Thai twist on decoration making it the most stylish W hotel we have stayed in. The Muay Thai decor starts at the entrance to the W Bangkok and carries through all the way to the room. Even the elevator area was decked out in hundreds of tuk-tuk lights covering an entire wall. Our room had fun sparkly Thai boxing glove pillows.

Sunset view from the room at W Bangkok Hotel-4

The view from our upper floor room was amazing, one night we didn’t even leave the room for sunset we literally watched it from our bed. The beds at the W Bangkok will literally suck you in you won’t even want to leave your room.

After a busy day exploring the city, the pool at the W Bangkok was a great place to relax and cool off. The heat in Bangkok is no joke no matter what time of year! There is even a poolside bar to order a nice cold umbrella drink or a cold beer. If it’s too hot outside head inside to relax with a massage at the Away Spa, a massage is always a good idea.

The W Bangkok has a fully-equipped fitness center with everything needed to get a great workout, but we couldn’t seem to pull ourselves out of bed to get there. If you plan on hitting the gym do it before breakfast, as the breakfast spread is huge and you won’t feel like working out after the breakfast feast.

The W Bangkok knows how to do breakfast, the breakfast show they put on is amazing. It’s not only a buffet but also a la carte. We didn’t even order eggs off the a la carte menu as the buffet options had our table full of plates already. They have a great fresh juice section, cheese & meat selection, yogurt, and noodle soup (yes for breakfast it’s amazing). Don’t plan on having lunch when staying at the W Bangkok, breakfast will keep you full until at least happy hour.

The are many great restaurants in the Silom area of Bangkok but some of the best restaurants are right at the W Bangkok. There are two restaurants on-site The Kitchen Table and The House on Sathorn as well as in-room dining. We only had time to eat lunch at The House on Sathorn, if you are looking for a nice dinner out in Bangkok and specifically steak, head here. It was wonderful, though it did make us miss our favorite beach restaurant in Koh Lipe! The burgers and adult shakes (alcoholic) at the Kitchen Table looked amazing, next time we are in Bangkok we are coming back for these!

After our time at the W Bangkok hotel, it was time to check out and head to the airport. The hotel can arrange a taxi for you or we choose to use Uber. We found that using Uber in Bangkok was super easy and we preferred it over taxis. Getting to and from the W Bangkok is super easy and cheap from all over the city. For example, our Uber bills were: from Terminal 21 Mall 78 baht, to/from Khao San Road 85-94 baht, and to the BKK airport 420 baht. Prices will vary heavily based on traffic.
