Where Are The Swimming Pigs On The Bachelor?
The swimming pigs that were the co-stars of an episode of The Bachelor 2016 are in the Bahamas. The swimming pigs call Major Cay home. They have become so famous they now call the part of the island that the swimming pigs live on ‘Pig Beach’. Major Cay or Pig Beach which ever you prefer is located in the Exuma chain of islands, about 90 miles from Nassau.
How Did The Swimming Pigs Get To The Island In The Bahamas?
Well, the truth is there are about as many stories as to how the pigs got to the island as there are people on Staniel Cay (which is about 90 people, so 90 different stories). However, the seemingly most credible story we heard while visiting Staniel Cay and the swimming pigs was that the Gray family that owns the island that the swimming pigs live on brought them to the island and do tend to them, somewhat. Especially now that they are such a huge part of their tourism economy.
Where To Stay To See The Swimming Pigs, Just Like On The Bachelor:
The closest island that you can stay on is Staniel Cay. Home to a handful of restaurants and a few hotels, Staniel Cay is right at the heart of the Exuma Cays. Staniel Cay is the main hub for yachts and personal aircraft for the region. The Staniel Cay airport is said to be the 4th busiest in all of the Bahamas, you wouldn’t expect it coming from this tiny island, but I guess those swimming pigs are pretty famous. Check out the full Staniel Cay Guide for a list of hotels on Staniel Cay.
