If you’re coming to Myrtle Beach for a couple’s weekend getaway, odds are you want a little beach time. The best place to stay in Myrtle Beach is right on the beach; just open up windows to the ocean breeze and the sound of waves crashing.
That’s my perfect couple getaway. Myrtle Beach is bigger than you may think, so you’ll need to decide if you want to stay on the beach or a hotel on the Myrtle Beach boardwalk.
We stayed at North Beach Plantation right on North Myrtle Beach in one of their three-bedroom suites. If you’re traveling with other couples or taking a family vacation, this hotel is the best value in Myrtle Beach and a gorgeous place to stay.
Here you can find 1 bedroom condos for $129, two bedrooms $159, three bedrooms $169, all the way up to five bedrooms condos for $299 a night.

Things To Do In Myrtle Beach
Yoga on Myrtle Beach
Skip the hotel gym and head to the beach. Start your morning off with some yoga on the beach. This will help you wake up and get ready for a busy day exploring all the things to do in Myrtle Beach.
There is often free beach yoga right now, every Saturday in September & October at 9 a.m. at the 79th Ave beach access. Bring your towel and join in.
Learn to Surf
If you’ve always wanted to learn how to surf, Myrtle Beach is one of the best and easiest places to give it a try. My first attempt was in Tamarindo Costa Rica where the waves were not for beginners.
It scared me away from surfing for a long time, but after a quick lesson with our instructor, Jack, I was ready to give it another try. He came out in the water with us and picked the perfect waves for us to attempt to get up on.
After just a few tries, we were up! It was one of my favorite moments (and it really was only a few moments – I didn’t last long on the board) on our Myrtle Beach getaway. Click here for rates and to book a surf lesson in Myrtle Beach.
Walk the boardwalk
Walk the entire length of the 1.2-mile Myrtle Beach’s scenic boardwalk. There are tons of boardwalk shops and restaurants, but like usual, I was drawn to the ice cream window.
Ride the Myrtle Beach Skywheel
I am a sucker for a Skywheel, or as I remember them as a child, Ferris wheels. Whenever I see them on our travels, I simply must ride them. One of the best views of the boardwalk and beach is from the top of the Myrtle Beach Skywheel.
The best time to ride the Skywheeel is during the day, however, the Skywheel itself is light up at night and makes for a great photo. It doesn’t matter what time of year your Myrtle Beach getaway is as the Skywheel is open daily year round.
Eat Shrimp & Grits
You know you’re in the South when grits are on the menu. Shrimp & Grits are a menu staple around Myrtle Beach, but one of the best places we had them was at Croissants Bistro & Bakery. If you’ve never had them, you have to try them!
Watch Sunset At Huntington Beach State Park
If you’re a nature lover, then head to Huntington Beach State Park. The park, as the name suggests, is right on the beach with 3 miles of wide open sand. It’s a great place to go for a hike on one of the many hiking trails.
For a bit of history in the middle of nature, check out the historic house of Archer M. Huntington, an industrialist and philanthropist whom the park was named for. In the center of the park, you’ll find Huntington’s Atalaya, a Moroccan-inspired mansion right on the ocean.
While in the park make sure to keep your eyes open for birds, there are over 300 species of birds in the park boundaries. It’s a popular Myrtle Beach weekend spot for campers. There are over 100 campsites available.
Wine Tasting
Who knew there were wineries in Myrtle Beach? We sure didn’t, but when someone says wine – we go check it out! There are a few wineries to check out, we visited La Belle Amie Vineyard on “Wine Wednesday” where all the wine (including wine tastings) are half off.
It was a packed house, and you could really tell it was a local favorite. They have a large outdoor patio where there is live music and a fun atmosphere. You can bring your own picnic – we suggest fruit & cheese to go with the wine.
Brookgreen Gardens
Named as one of the Top 10 Gardens in the US by TripAdvisor, Brookgreen should be on everyone’s Myrtle Beach itinerary. Located just outside of Myrtle Beach, this 9,100-acre property could easily fill your entire day.
Our favorite part was the Live Oak Allée with the 300-year-old live oak trees that date back to the 1700s when the area was a booming rice plantation. Depending on the time of year, you may want to visit in the morning to beat the afternoon heat. Adults 13-64 $16, Children 4-12 $8 and under 3 free.
Murrells Inlet Marsh Walk
Head out to Murrells Inlet, a historic fishing village, in the late afternoon and take a stroll down the boardwalk. Along the marsh walk, there are tons of restaurants featuring the freshest seafood in South Carolina, live music, shopping, and much more.
We had dinner in Murrells Inlet at Wicked Tuna (more on that below) and sat outside on their patio so that we could see the beautiful sunset over the marsh.
Get a couples massage
There is no better way to end a weekend romantic getaway than with a relaxing massage. Adam and I opted for a couples massage at the Cinzia Spa, which was part of our hotel, the North Beach Plantation.
Where To Eat In Myrtle Beach
Wicked Tuna
If you’re looking for some fresh seafood or sushi, then definitely have dinner at the Wicked Tuna. We ordered a few dishes and split them, everything we had was amazing including the drinks.
If it’s not too hot out, ask to sit on the back patio. It’s also a great spot to watch the sunset. We suggest making the reservation online just to ensure you don’t have to wait for a table.k
Recommend Dishes: Tuna pizza, Maryland sushi rolls, fried seafood platter
Croissants
This cute little restaurant serves up some mean croissants but so much more than its name suggests. They have a full menu with some tasty sandwiches and salads, and you can’t forget the shrimp & grits.
They close every day at 6 p.m., but breakfast is served until 4 pm for those breakfast lovers. Recommend Dishes: Shrimp & Grits, Turkey & Pimento & Artichoke Melt
Aspen Grille
We ended our couples’ romantic getaway with the best steakhouse in Myrtle Beach, which is definitely the perfect restaurant for a special occasion.
