Top 5 Honeymoon Destinations for 2024
1. Maldives
In 2022, the Maldives are dominating honeymooners’ wishlists with over-the-top accommodations set over picture-perfect beaches and turquoise waters. Overwater bungalows were made for honeymoons, and the Maldives were the first to have them.
They are still leading the way in this type of accommodation with new resorts boasting retractable roof overwater bungalows with waterslides to the ocean and full-size pools right on the villa deck. While the Maldives is known for high-end luxury, there’s accommodation at all budget levels, and flights are cheaper than you think.

This Southeast Asian gem is a favorite among travelers and makes a top-notch choice for those looking for an exotic honeymoon destination. In Thailand, it’s easy and affordable to get high-end, honeymoon-worthy hotels and experiences set among some of the most stunning scenery on the planet.
Along with great beaches, the country also has a ton of culture and nature to round out the perfect honeymoon.

The Southern Caribbean island of Aruba is the perfect spot for young couples looking for a little adventure during their beach honeymoon. Most assume that all Aruba has to offer are beaches, but there is a whole other side to the island – a rugged, cactus-filled, windswept coast with sea caves and secluded beaches.
Hop in a jeep and go on an off-road adventure one day and relax on the beach the next, but make sure to leave time to visit the famous flamingos too!

5. Jamaica
If you are looking for a honeymoon destination that won’t let you down, then head to the beautiful beaches of Jamaica! The sand and sunshine, along with the good vibes of the island, make it the perfect place to spend your first newlywed days together.
Our top pick on the island is the city of Negril and its seven-mile beach with white powder sand and turquoise waters. Here you are also not too far from the town so you’ll get to experience plenty of local culture too. If you are looking for more seclusion, head down to the south coast for ultimate luxury and overwater bungalows.
Don’t miss the top attractions on the island, like Dunn’s River Falls and the world-famous Pelican Bar! Apple Vacations has some crazy deals in Jamaica. We’ve stayed at an all-inclusive resort in Negril for under $1,000 per person.

Best Caribbean Honeymoon Islands
Aruba
Aruba is the perfect place for honeymooners who want a mix of adventure and relaxing beach time. Aruba is located outside of the hurricane belt, so it’s a great option for a summer honeymoon.
One side of the island is gorgeous white beaches after beach, and on the other side is a rugged coastline full of cacti and desert-like. The beaches in Aruba offer a great breeze year round making it the perfect temperature. The island is rather large, so renting a car in Aruba is the best way to explore the island to its fullest.
If you’re up for the adventure, rent a 4×4 and drive yourself to Aruba Natural Pool. The drive itself is an adventure. Read our complete Aruba honeymoon guide.

You can’t go wrong with a honeymoon in Jamaica. We actually got married on Seven Mile Beach in Negril, so we may be biased. We’ve been to Jamaica six times. It’s one of those places with gorgeous beaches, friendly locals, great food, and easy to get to, and it doesn’t break the bank.
There is something for everyone’s budget, from simple guesthouses on the beach to the luxury Sandals Resorts overwater bungalows in Jamaica. Read our complete Jamaica honeymoon guide.

If you are looking to stay in an all-inclusive luxury property, we suggest Sandals Resorts. There are five properties in Jamaica alone. Our personal favorite is Sandals Negril. Make sure to read our Best Sandals Resort, where we go through all the properties.
Anguilla
There is a common saying in the Caribbean, “St. Barth is where people go to be seen; Anguilla is where they go to hide.” Anguilla is amazing, but don’t expect an all-inclusive or party island scene. Anguilla is a chill island where renting villas over staying in huge hotels is the norm.
If you’re the independent type who prefers to make your own meals or go out to the best restaurants in Anguilla, then renting a villa in Anguilla is perfect. You can drive from one end of Anguilla to the other in about an hour, so it’s small but not that small.
There are several things to do in Anguilla. Anguilla beaches are some of the best in the Caribbean if you ask us, and you will also find a quiet, secluded area.
- Average Cost: $3,500-$7,500
- Best Time To Go: May-August
Don’t forget your insurance! You never know when you’ll need it. We suggest getting travel insurance with Safety Wing. Which coverage includes medical, trip interruption, lost luggage, and more. Often rates are as low as $12 a week.
St. Lucia
St. Lucia is famous for The Pitons. They make for a great hike but one of the best sunsets in the Caribbean. You don’t have to fly across the world to stay in an overwater bungalow; head to Sandals St Lucian Grande (video in article). St Lucia is also home to one of our favorite Sandals Resorts. We love all Sandals properties.
- Average Cost: $3,500-$7,500
- Best Time To Go: May-June
Bahamas
The Bahamas is made up of over 700 islands, but only 30 of which are inhabited. Deciding where to go might only be the toughest part because once you’re there, it’s all about relaxing.
If you head to the Exuma’s, don’t forget to say hi to the famous swimming pigs in the Bahamas. We stayed on the island of Staniel Cay for a week which was a quick boat ride away from Pig Island.
- Average Cost: $3,500-$7,500
- Best Time To Go: November-Mid April
Cuba
For a unique honeymoon, head to Cuba and step back in time. There are tons of amazing places in Cuba to visit, but our personal favorite is Trinidad. The beaches are pristine, and you can always find your own sliver of sand. Don’t expect fancy all-inclusive resorts or amazing local cuisine.
Barbados
Enjoy both the calm Caribbean side and the rugged Atlantic side on the island of Barbados. There are several all-inclusive properties, smaller hotels, and villas to rent. We highly suggest renting a car in Barbados and driving around the island to see the best Barbados attractions.
Most of the action happens in the St. Lawrence Gap. We suggest Sandals Barbados. Barbados is often overlooked due to it being the Easternmost island in the Caribbean and typically 2+ flights to get to from the USA.
North America Honeymoon
Mexico Honeymoon
Mexico is always a great idea, and that isn’t just for the margaritas and food. There are tons of beach towns in the Yucatan Penisula, each with its own personality. We always suggest staying outside of Cancun and instead head to Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Isla Holbox, Akumal, Bacalar, or Xpu Ha.
If a week at the beach or swim-up bar isn’t your thing, don’t worry. There are a ton of things to do in the Yucatan and places to visit. We always suggest renting a car in Cancun so you can explore the ruins, cenotes, and cute Mexican towns.

- Average Cost: Under $3,500
- Best Time To Go: December-April
Belize Honeymoon
Belize is often overlooked, which is a big mistake. It’s super easy to travel within Belize. The official language is English, and the USD is fixed to the Belize dollar two to one, but the USD is accepted everywhere.
There are some gorgeous beaches in Belize, but diving is top-notch. The reef is the longest barrier reef in the Western hemisphere. It’s a great place to try diving or get dive certified. There is a great mix of activities the islands like Caye Caulker and Ambergris Caye are all about diving and being out on the water. Mainland Belize has rainforests, ancient Mayan ruins, cave tubing, beaches, and more.
South Pacific Honeymoon
Cook Islands Honeymoon
No massive buildings and resorts here. There is no building taller than a Palm Tree! Head to the hottest new destination in the South Pacific.
Just google Aitutaki, and you’ll instantly want to honeymoon in the Cook Islands. You’ll fly into Rarotonga. We suggest staying for a few days. We stayed five nights as there were tons of things to do in Rarotonga, and we ate our way around the island at the best restaurants in Rarotonga.
