Where Is The Cozumel Ferry Pier?

There are two Cozumel ferry piers. The main passenger ferry pier from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel is located right on the beach in Playa del Carmen right off of 5th Ave (main tourist walking street in Playa del Carmen).

If you take a private transfer or shuttle it most likely will drop you by the Cozumel ferry ticket both, the bus stop is a 3-minute walk away.

  • Address: Terminal Marítima NAVEGA Av. Benito Juárez, Playa del Carmen

There is a car ferry to Cozumel located 15 minutes South of Playa del Carmen near Xcaret, operated by Transcaribe. If you are renting a car at the Cancun airport and wanting to bring it to Cozumel so you don’t have to rent a car in Cozumel this is an option.

The only reason to take the Transcaribe ferry to Cozumel is if you are bringing a rental car with you. Transcaribe doesn’t have passenger-only fares, their prices are for a vehicle and passengers.

We personally think it’s just easier renting a car in Cozumel then bringing one over there, the extra time is not worth the money.

How To Get From Cancun to Cozumel Ferry

Private Transfer –  If you’ve just landed in Cancun International Airport (CUN) it’s best to book a private transfer to take you directly to the Cozumel Ferry in Playa del Carmen. This can be booked in advance here for only $60 or $110 round trip for 3 people.

This is the fastest and easiest way, the driver will be waiting for you and you’ll go straight to the pier. Prices at the airport for private transfers are much higher, for the cheapest price book in advance online. If you’re traveling as a larger group the price is even cheaper.

  • $60 One way | $110 Round Trip up to 3 people
  • $99 One Way | $175 Round Trip up to 6 people luxury service
  • $99 One Way | $175 Roun Trip up to 16 people group service
  • $135 One Way | $225 Round Trip up to 6 people handicap van service
  • $299 One Way | 525 Round Trip up to 11 people limo service

Shared Shuttle: Shared airport shuttles from Cancun are only a good deal if you are a solo traveler. Prices are $29 for one person. If you are traveling as a couple it’s only $2 more to take the private transfer and then you go STRAIGHT to the pier and don’t wait for additional passengers or stop to drop people of along the way.

We have always found shuttles to be really uncomfortable with too many people in one van.

ADO Bus: Another option is to take the ADO bus right from Cancun Airport to Playa del Carmen Centro. The bus stop is a few minutes walk from the pier. Buses leave the airport about every 30 minutes from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.

NOTE if you arrive before 8:30 am or after the last bus you will have to wait or hire a private transfer. Bus to Playa del Carmen costs 190 pesos/ $10 USD.

Rent A Car – Renting a car in Mexico is much easier and cheaper than you’d think. You can rent a car at the Cancun airport for under $10 a day, we typically paid $5 a day. Click here to check car rental rates. Make sure to read our renting a car in Mexico guide beforehand.
